REX HEINKE

REX HEINKE

REX HEINKE is a Partner in the Century City office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, and co-head of the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice group. Mr. Heinke has argued over a hundred appeals, involving many issues, in federal and state courts throughout the country. He has served as lead trial and appellate counsel on behalf of newspapers, magazines, television networks, motion picture studios, websites, and entertainment production and distribution companies in First Amendment, intellectual property, entertainment, media, and internet disputes. He has lectured on media, entertainment, internet, intellectual property, advertising, constitutional, and appellate law for programs presented by many professional and educational organizations. He has also written numerous articles on these issues. Mr. Heinke has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal 100 in labor and employment, among “The Top 10” from Southern California by SuperLawyers, among The Best Lawyers in America consistently since 1991, and among America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of Litigation: Appellate by Chambers USA. He was the recipient of the California Lawyer magazine’s 2013 and 2009 California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) Awards. Mr. Heinke received his BA from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and his JD from the Columbia University School of Law.
